Three routines called Morning, Shutdown and Weekly review, each with how many steps are left, a segmented progress bar, and a button to start or carry on.
Two of five left on the morning, so the button says Continue.

How it works

  1. Continue, not start again

A routine you began and wandered away from says Continue, and the bar remembers the steps you already did. Coming back at eleven costs you nothing.

  2. Streaks counted from what you finished

The number beside Shutdown counts the days you got to the end of it. Opening the app and looking at the list does not qualify.

  3. Steps are yours

Every routine has a Steps button. Add one, reorder them, delete the one you have skipped eleven times running.

Asked about Routines

What is the Routines module in Cadence?

Morning, shutdown, the weekly review. A list you work down while you do it. A routine you began and wandered away from says Continue, and the bar remembers the steps you already did. Coming back at eleven costs you nothing.

Can I switch Routines off?

Yes. The library in Settings has a switch beside Routines, and turning it off takes it out of the sidebar, the search and the Today screen. The other 26 switchable modules work the same way.

Does Routines sync between the Mac and the iPhone?

Yes, once iCloud sync is unlocked for $14.99, paid once and covering the Mac and the iPhone together. Until then Routines keeps its data on the device you typed it into, and it goes nowhere else.

Keep Routines. Ignore the other twenty five.
